Logo designs made using company name initials are getting more and more popular. I personaly don't advocate turning your company name into a set of initials because it kind of devalues the name you came up with in the first place. However, there are often reasons to do this and one of the most high profile companies in the US today is a good example of where this has been done and for good reason.
About 10 years ago British Petroleum PLC, as BP was once known, changed it's name and branding to reflect it's more global nature. Up until the recent disaster this had been considered a positive move for BP. To change it's logo from a name to a logo using just initials was a bold move and allowed BP to reposition itself as a global company that cares about the environment. The recent disaster however has made that a real challenge for the brand going forward. The Logo Company has designed many Initial Logos and has a very good track record of success in turning a much longer brand name into a more easily remembered logo using the initials. These logos are traditionaly refered to as "Initial Logos". Take a look at this variation on a theme of initial logos that we produced for a client recently. ![]() This client wanted to do this in two stages. They are currently know by the long name but are looking to reposition their brand so that in the future they will be know by just the initials. It's a 2 stage transition from a long name to an initials logo. Other clients will just bite the bullet and go right to the initials, dropping the long name altogether. If you want to have a logo designed using your company initials then The Logo Company is the right choice. We have a long history in designing initial logos and we know what is needed to make your logo a success.
